OUR SERVICES
How We Are Helping

Our one-to-one therapy is held from the comfort of your home to reduce unnecessary emotional distress. We utilise ABA therapy that is uniquely tailored to your child’s pace. Our therapists work to address concerns like rigidity & obsession, inconsistency with name and instruction response, negative behaviours and/or lack of eye contact. We also help to improve socialisation skills, get children talking, and prepare them for mainstream education.

Our school shadowing programme sees one of our licensed therapists accompanying your child as they learn in a mainstream education environment. School isn’t always an easy place for children with autism. Our therapists help your child benefit from being able to follow classroom rules, group instructions, gain independence, and socialise with peers.

Our speech therapy programme helps your child improve on one of the most fundamental components of human interaction. We utilise the Hanan programme to improve expression, language understanding, and pragmatic skills like greeting and turn-taking. Articulation therapy also helps to refine pronunciation of multisyllabic words

As your child ventures into the working world, our vocation training equips them with the practical, social, and emotional skills needed for their next big step in life. We work together with you, your child, and their organisation to provide continued job support beyond the initial transitioning process. Our training opens the opportunity for them to gain independence and open employment..

Entering a mainstream school can be daunting for a child with autism. Our social & school readiness programme emphasises a dual approach that prepares children for the academic and social situations they will encounter as they make the transition to mainstream academics. Enjoy individualised attention in group setting with small class sizes,

Autism Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disorder causing problems with social interaction and communication and repetitive or restrictive behaviours. There is a wide range of symptoms associated with autism, which is why it is called a spectrum disorder.
What causes autism in children?
The exact cause of autism is still unknown. However, studies have shown that a combination of factors plays a significant role in the development of autism. These include genetics, environmental factors, and biological causes.
How common is autism in Singapore?
The world prevalence of autism is 1 percent of the total population. In Singapore, that’s an estimated 50,000 people from a population of 5 million.
About 400 new cases are diagnosed each year in Singapore. In 2014, 1 in 150 children had autism while 4,400 children were diagnosed with developmental problems, a 76-percent increase from the 2010 figure.
Is autism a disability in Singapore?
Yes, autism is a disability, according to the Singapore government’s Enabling Masterplans. Sensory, physical, and intellectual disabilities, including autism, reduce a person’s ability to secure, retain, and progress in education, employment, and recreation compared to others in the community.
What are the three main symptoms of autism?
The symptoms of autism are classified into three major characteristics. Children with autism have poorly developed social skills, problems with receptive and expressive communication, and the presence of repetitive or restrictive behaviours.
How do I get tested for autism in Singapore?
Evaluations leading to an autism diagnosis can be daunting. However, an accurate diagnosis is crucial for understanding current functioning and the levels of challenges the children experience. From there, appropriate treatment can be implemented for a better quality of life.
To be given a diagnosis of autism, a child must present with a “triad” of symptoms in the following area — social impairment, communication problems, and problems in the flexibility of thinking or imagination.
A full assessment is performed by a team of healthcare professionals, including a developmental paediatrician, a child psychologist, and a speech or occupational therapist. Book a consultation with AutismSTEP for an autism assessment schedule.
What is the treatment for autism?
There is no one-size-fits-all treatment for autism. However, a tailored, personalised, research-based therapy reduces symptoms and helps children thrive.
Applied behaviour analysis (ABA) therapy helps improve social, communication, and learning skills through positive reinforcement. Aside from these, ABA therapy can impact a person’s life by developing cognitive abilities, acquiring social skills, reducing problem behaviours, improving communication skills, and enhancing focus and attention.
Autism and Global Developmental Delay (GDD): How Do They Differ?
Did you know that Global Developmental Delay (GDD) is a condition in which children experience significant delays in two or more areas of development, such as language, cognitive skills, social skills, or motor skills?

As he becomes elder, the gap to learning has became a huge stress on family and he is aware too. Thanks to a parent in ny boy's class who introduced Autism Step to me, i thought of giving it a try and met Li Yuan who is very warm and understands all the panic the family has. Li Yuan first gave us a free consultation and checked on my boy to adivse us directions and upcoming areas we should work on, he also assessed to assign us a therapist who we had not regret handing our boy to. My boy has enjoyed every lesson by Yvonne, the senior therapist, she is super responsible and is very proactive in feeding us more ideas on how to co train him outside lesson at home. I will not hestitate to recommend Li Yuan, Yvonne and Autism Step if you are looking for a responsible handler, thank you all for the effort and assurance you have given to the family.Posted on Neeraj SinghTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve had such a positive experience with Kelvin and Autism-Step. Both my son and daughter attend ABA VB therapy here, and the progress has been amazing. From day one, Kelvin has been patient, compassionate, and highly professional in his approach. Highly recommend Autism-Step and especially Kelvin for any parents looking for genuine, supportive ABA therapy. Their blend of expertise, patience, and empathy makes a real difference, and I’m deeply grateful for the positive impact they’ve had on our journey.Posted on wang jianTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I'm very grateful to Teacher Kelvin & Hannah for their exceptional patience and care towards Kiara. I also like to thanks Lee Yuan for being approachable and open to hearing my opinions. Kiara could learn to point in just one session and it was amazing to see such progress and we look forward to more milestones with AutismStep. Kelvin - case manage for Kiara is also exceptionally patient and well trained in his job scope, always advicing me when I'm lost and has a really special bond with Kiara (we can see how he always manage to make her follow instructions despite being whiney and unwilling) she still completes the task! Thank you for teaching us as parents how to manage and cope with our child as well.Posted on Goh Mei AiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I'd like to thank AutismSTEP to play a significant role in helping my daughter to have a great improvement in her child development progress. I & my hubby were worried when we found that our 1year+ kid was unable to have proper interaction & basic speech compared to other kids. Thankful that my hubby managed to search & approached AutismSTEP. This is indeed a good start. Ms. Raechel who is the main coordinator (the Centre Manager) did a prompt & professional coordination to make a smooth learning process for us. Mr Li Yuan personally came to us & understand the details of our kid's condition. I'm grateful of him to assign 2 great teachers Ms Evva & Ms Lyane to our kid. Evva is a patient & professional Case Manager who gave lots of helpful advice, eg., the suitable toys & what we can do, from start to end of the whole session. She travelled to our home to chat & understand in details with us for our kid's situation & explained to us the session & our kid's need. She is able to guide our kid patiently & observe her for improvement. Lyane is great therapist who is patient & caring as well! She is able to guide our kid to play & interact via the games. I understand that she needs to travel far to teach our kid, but she is managed to make it for every session without failure! Both teachers provided timely updates after the session. Our kid likes both teachers a lot! Both great teachers have great patience & possess professional knowledge. Our daughter shows good improvement via the 4months journey, I & my hubby are really happy for the outcome! We'll definitely recommend AutismSTEP to the friend in need!Posted on Nordiana NorbaidinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hi! We engage Teacher Kelvin from AutismStep, and it has been amazing, my son is hyper active boy and was rejected entry from a childcare centre, after engaging this company services for about 4 months, my son is enrolled to Nursery 2, and he is able to behave amazingly in school! For parents seeking help for your child whether is he/she is autism or hyperactive, do consider enrolling to a one to one session with Autism Step, worth your money, and trust the process! They really know how to tackle this situation very well. From a parent that wants the best for her child to another parent that is seeking for help for their child! We are incredibly grateful to Teacher Vani for her dedication and support as our son's therapist over the past two years. From the very beginning, she showed genuine care, patience, and professionalism in working with him. Under her guidance, we’ve witnessed significant growth in his language development, writing abilities, and social skills — areas that were once challenging for him. Thanks to her consistent efforts and thoughtful approach, our son made steady progress and gained the confidence he needed to thrive. By the time he “graduated” and transitioned to Primary 1 in 2025, we could see how much he had blossomed — not just academically, but also emotionally and socially. We deeply appreciate all that Teacher Vani has done and will always be thankful for the important role she played in our son’s early development journey.Posted on Sofia MohdTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My family has witnessed significant improvements in my child's verbal and social abilities after beginning ABA therapy. The therapists are extremely patient and dedicated, adapting their approach to meet my child's specific needs. We've seen a big improvement in his ability to communicate with others and express himself. Thank you to our case manager, Hilwa and therapists Lester and Melson for caring and doing their best to guide my child throughout. Thumbs up for how they engaged and bonded with my child. They are also excellent at keeping us updated and involved throughout the process, which has been quite beneficial. If not for budgetary restraints, I would gladly continue to use their services. Thank you again for your aid AutismSTEP.Posted on ARESAH ARISTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was looking for a therapy centre for my son (4 years old) back in April last year and reached out to several centres via email. Only two responded, and one of them was AutismSTEP. Out of all the centres, AutismSTEP went the extra mile by arranging a video consultation for me, as I wasn’t in Singapore at the time. This session really helped my husband and me better understand our son’s condition and the kind of support he needed. While the hospital recommended speech therapy, I still remember the founder of AutismSTEP telling me, “Once the behaviour improves, other areas will improve too.” He was absolutely right. No hospitals or doctors had ever given me this kind of clear and practical advice. We enrolled our son in July 2024, with sessions four times a week for three months. Back then, he couldn’t even sit still for more than five minutes. But after the therapy, he changed — now he can sit and focus for up to two hours! He can even colour within shapes, something he couldn’t do before as he would just scribble. His motor skills have improved tremendously. Almost a year later, I contacted the centre again for further advice, and we enrolled him for another two months to focus on his speech. Now, he can say sentences like “I like aeroplanes,” something he wasn’t able to express before. His writing, speech, and reading are all improving steadily. I am truly grateful I found AutismSTEP. I highly recommend them. I especially appreciate the dedicated therapists who came to our home — they are experienced, patient, and have given me a lot of valuable advice to help support my son’s progress.
