Empathy and introspective are the traits that Yong Er holds close and relate to the most. She believes in genuine connection and deeper human experiences and seeking meaning beyond the surface. What truly matters to her is how to give back to the society and to have a strong sense of purpose in life. She is driven to stand up for what is right and make a meaningful difference. Which is why she is drawn to the field of education and special needs; she finds great fulfilment in seeing how each student has progressed and was understood.
Yong Er started her career in a manufacturing company and quickly came to realised that it does not give her a sense of purpose. She then move on to the field of special needs, being an early educator in a Special Education School in Singapore.
Apart from her professional experiences, Yong Er believes in improving herself by cultivating her interests and hobbies. She finds joy in learning new songs on her ukulele and clarinet. Yong Er is also part of a dragon boat team, where she actively trains her endurance and resilience. This sport involves strong teamwork and persistence. The experience has reinforced her belief that resilience is key to overcoming obstacles.
