Jia Lin started off as a Kindergarten teacher and later move on to a teacher in a Special Needs School. During her stay in the Special Needs School, she was nominated for LEAP Award, an award to recognise outstanding teachers’ effort. Jia Lin is also often described as someone with a great amount of patience.
Jia Lin also volunteer actively in places like Children’s Society. She conducted workshop and taught life skills such as cooking and meals preparation.
Jia Lin believes that different individuals learn differently, hence when she is teaching, she will personalise her teaching resources as much as possible to match the interests and learning styles of the students. She often brainstorm on how to engage the students and make the lesson fun for them through games and songs. In addition, she will also look for available online resources to enrich their learning. To Jia Lin, being versatile to suit the learning styles of the students and being resourceful are valuable skills of a therapist.
Jia Lin is also currently pursuing her part time degree in Counselling.
